Fleet and Crookham Welcome to the latest FACCTS-Cast: Spring 2011
The following report runs from the start of January into April 2011 and was compiled by Mischa Constant, Helen Wolstencroft and Sharon Gardner.
January 2011
Junior schools
Student Relational Development: Our usual weekly Christian lunchtime clubs ran at Heatherside, Velmead and Elvetham Heath. These weekly clubs continue both to sustain and grow in numbers and, more importantly, relationship with students and staff. The numbers of children we engage, adding all the clubs together, totals over 60 per week!
Secondary schools
Events: Our weekly coffee mornings continue to run successfully at both Calthorpe Park and Court Moor secondary schools, providing staff with vital caffeine and encouragement.
Student Relational Development: Mischa participated in another successful Calthorpe Year 10 residential at Calshot in Southampton, engaging with over 45 students.
Youth clubs: ‘180’ is going well at Calthorpe, as well as our Year 7 to 11 weekly homework club at Court Moor. The numbers of young people we engage weekly between the two clubs, totals over 35.
Other
Mischa begins second last term with CYM university degree. Helen Wolstencroft, our part-time schools worker, is making good inroads into new projects for FACCTS.
Our team of directors continue their ongoing useful evaluation and support of our work. Sharon Gardner continues to be a great asset to the Faccts team. Nicola Hamilton keeps our administration in good order and the rest of our volunteers and partners continue to engage with and promote the generic work of FACCTS.
February 2011
Junior schools
Student Relational Development: Our usual weekly Christian lunchtime clubs continue to be delivered successfully and professionally at Heatherside Junior School, Velmead Junior School and Elvetham Heath Primary School.
[The number of children attending these clubs is given in the January section above.]
Secondary schools
Events: Our coffee mornings continue to ‘infuse’ staff morale at both secondary schools. This is our main way of building relationships with the staff at the schools and provides many inroads to other events and activities.
Student Relational Development: Our usual youth clubs continue to run well at Calthorpe and Court Moor, with good relationships with staff and students being maintained.
[The number of children attending these clubs is given in the January section above.]
Helen, Sharon and Mischa delivered three successful assemblies at Court Moor with Year Groups 8-10. It was great to have Josh, the new youth worker at Fleet Baptist, join us on the eam. This means we presented a Christian message to over 600 young people this month.

Events: EASTER PRESENTATION MONTH
The ‘wider FACCTS team’ successfully presented the Easter Story to well over 500 students in the schools listed below. It is always exciting to deliver the timeless Easter message in fresh, creative and diverse ways to students, staff and volunteers from all our local Junior Schools. Feedback has been affirming and positive all-round and makes the hard work of putting on these annual presentations worthwhile.
The ‘core-team’ for all the presentations is from FMC, however each host church also provides great volunteers. This year our wider team included:
Fleet Methodist Church (FMC) – hosted by Rev Stephen Robinson
Visiting schools: Heatherside, Velmead and All Saints Junior schools.
Church on the Heath - hosted by Rev David Price
Visiting school: Elvetham Heath Primary School.
Christ Church - hosted by Rev Mark Nicholls
Visiting school: Church Crookham Junior School.
Also: The team delivered the presentation for the first time at St. Nicholas’ School, with a mix of volunteers from all the churches involved.
Well done to all involved and thank you to the churches who helped us in this work!
News: As indicates in the last report, please pray for the potential start of a course called ‘Bible Explorers’ . We hope to trial this course in one local Junior School in 2011/12 but there is much planning and training to prepare before this can happen. We hope BX will be a fantastic addition to our work in Junior Schools.

Student Relational Development: Our usual weekly clubs continue to run well this month. Thank you to our fantastic wider Faccts team who serve so faithfully every week!
[The number of children attending these clubs is given in the January section above.]
Secondary schools
Events: Mischa (and other local ministers and youth workers) participated in the Farnborough 6th form ‘Grill-a-Christian’ event. This is an annual event, organised by the fantastic Christian Union team at the college. The aim is to invite as many non-Christian people as possible to come and ‘grill’ a panel of Christians on various theological aspects of the Christian faith. Over 250 students attended and the ‘debate’ was fantastic! We all look forward to next year.
Helen assisted in the Calthorpe ‘Fairtrade Conference’. This is an inter-school event, with a group of Year 6 students from the five local Junior Schools spending a day looking at the issue of Fair Trade with some Calthorpe Park Students. Over 100 young people of varying ages took part. We also ran a Fair Trade tuck shop on the day for the staff and students, which raised some money for Livingstones, too.
Student Relational Development: Our usual weekly youth clubs ran well this month at Calthorpe and Court Moor, with some great conversations on ‘life, the universe and everything!’
[The number of children attending these clubs is given in the January section above.]
Helen participated in her first successful secondary school residential to York with over 100 Year 8 students from Calthorpe Park. This enabled to her get to know - and become known by - a good number of the students at Calthorpe Park and good relationships were built with the staff team on the trip too. Well done Helen!
April 2011
[Holiday month]

Secondary schools

Other: Mischa’s second term of his third year at CYM has been a success – Well done Mish for your hard work! Helen is now fully-integrated into the ongoing life of FACCTS and feels confident in the work.
We, as a team, are thankful to continue to have ‘favour’ to work in our local schools.
Please continue to pray for the whole team; Mischa, Sharon, Helen, Nicola, the directors and many, many volunteers, that we will continue to build relationships with staff and students at the schools and that this work may continue.
Thank you to all our faithful volunteers, directors, prayer partners and generally the wider team. Without YOU... all of what we DO would simply not be possible!
