Fleet and Crookham Welcome to the latest FACCTS-Cast: Winter 2011
The following report covers the period from September to December 2011. and has been compiled by Mischa Constant and Helen Wolstencroft.
September 2011
Junior schools
Events: Annual Harvest ‘whole’ school’ assembly delivered by Mish and Helen at All Saints. Well received and encouraging feedback from students and staff.
Student Relational Development: Our usual weekly Christian lunch time clubs ran successfully at Heatherside, Velmead, and Elvetham Primary School. These weekly clubs continue to see growth in numbers and increased relationships with students and staff.
Secondary schools
Events: Our weekly coffee mornings continue successfully to run at both secondary schools and are always appreciated as a ‘life-line’ by staff!
Student Relational Development: Mischa and Helen delivered a series of successful and interactive RE lessons at Calthorpe on ‘Truth’ with various year 10 classes that were well received. Our usual CU’s restart in October as we meet, plan and pray with various local young people from churches this month.
Other: Nicola Hamilton has kept our administration in good order and the rest of our volunteers and partners continue to engage with and effectively promote the holistic work of Faccts.
October 2011
Junior schools
Events: None to mention.
Student Relational Development: Our usual weekly Christian lunchtime clubs continue to be delivered successfully and professionally at Heatherside, Velmead and Elvetham Junior Schools. After a successful presentation by Helen and Mischa to the All Saints Head Teacher, we also began the All Saints lunchtime club this month and it has started very well! There is a good core group forming, and a new volunteer lined up to help in 2012 - Ruth Simpson.
Secondary schools
Events: Our coffee mornings continue to revitalize staff at both secondary schools.
Student Relational Development: Our after school youth clubs (CUs) re-started ran well and are considered to be quality extended schools activities at the schools. CU at Court Moor - great group - mix of churches and ages - have been bringing new friends and have seen answers to prayer. It's good to have Josh (youth worker at FBC) as a helper too! CU at Calthorpe restarted well - getting similar young people as before - good to have Josh on board as a helper!
Helen and Mish delivered some more successful lessons in ‘Truth’ to additional year 10 classes. A real privilege to be able to share and discuss the values of the Christian faith with young people in school!
Other: Mish and Helen planned and delivered a Christian Union evening for all interested local young people, kindly hosted by Fleet Baptist Church. This was a successful evening and helped to cast fresh vision into the Christian Union clubs running at both local secondary schools. We also attended a national ‘Prayer Space in Schools’ conference in London. This was an inspiring day and is a project that we would like to deliver in both Junior and Secondary schools.
November 2011
Junior schools
Events: As mentioned last November, please continue to pray for the start of a course called: ‘Bible Explorers’. We hope to run this course in all the local Junior Schools in 2011/12 but there is much planning and training to undertake. Helen and Mish will complete their ‘BX’ training in the summer of 2012 and will pilot this highly successful nationally delivered course, with year 5 at All Saints School in the autumn of 2012. The All Saints RE department are really looking forward to us delivering the course next year. If it is successful, which we are sure it will be, Faccts hopes to train up further specific individuals from various local churches to partner with us in delivering ‘BX’ in every local Junior School.
This is a unique, professional and relevant opportunity for Faccts to effectively engage local schools with and one that we highly anticipate! Importantly, this is a Christian opportunity to relevantly take the ‘Good news’ into local schools on a long term basis. See: http://www.bible.org.uk/index.php - for more information.
Student Relational Development: Our usual weekly clubs continue to run well this month. Thank you to our fantastic wider Faccts team who serve so faithfully every week! Numbers of young attendees are ever growing so please pray on!
Secondary schools
Events: None to mention.
Student Relational Development: Our usual weekly youth clubs have continued to run well this month at Calthorpe and Court Moor with some great conversations on ‘life, the universe and everything!’
Other: Mish and Helen made fresh contact with the Farnborough 6th form CU. We also visited ‘YAK’ the youth club at Christ Church, Crookham – part of our ongoing strategy to establish wider relationships with both local young people and the youth leaders/volunteers who serve so faithfully every week! By the way: ‘YAK’ has been successfully running for 10 years this year! Well done to Mike Gibbons and his team! Keep up the great work!
December 2011
Junior schools
Events: Mish and Helen delivered a successful Christmas assembly to the junior section at St. Nicholas' School and have already been asked back for Easter! Our annual Christmas presentation was delivered to the following schools: Velmead, Heatherside, All Saints, Elvetham Heath and Crookham Juniors.
The first three were held at Fleet Methodist church; Elvetham Primary at Church on the Heath and Crookham Juniors at Christ Church Crookham.
Once again, the great team of diverse and passionate volunteers from these three churches delivered a fun, relevant and professional presentation of the Christmas story to both young and old! Post-event feedback from all participating schools was: ‘We loved it!!’ And: ‘Look really forward to seeing your team again in 2012!’ We look forward to seeing them all. What a privilege to serve our local schools in such a special way.
Student Relational Development: Our usual weekly clubs continue to run well this month. Thank you to our fantastic wider Faccts team who serve so faithfully every week – team work makes ‘the dream’ work!
Secondary schools
Events: Mish and Helen delivered successful and well received Christmas assemblies to various year groups at Court Moor.
Student Relational Development: Our usual weekly youth clubs continued with some great conversations on the Christmas story.
Other: Court Moor School held their annual ‘Christmas in music and words’ evening at Fleet Methodist Church. Mish and Helen organized a local youth leaders Christmas lunch. This was a great time to network with others who are serving young people in similar ways in our local area and promises to see more of us getting together more often in 2012 to collaborate together in ministry!
And finally...
From Mish and Helen: We are always looking for more local Christians to partner with us as volunteers in various aspects of our work. If you are interested Helen and Mish would love to take you out for coffee, so please do get in contact with us.
See full contact details.
Please continue to pray with us that our current financial short-fall will be met by the end of January 2012 so that this great work, which has now been running for over 10 years in our community, may continue.
Thank you to all our faithful volunteers, directors, prayer partners and generally the wider team. Without YOU... all of what we DO... would simply not be possible!
May God bless you with a wonderful Christmas and a brilliant New Year!
See you in 2012!
